The TriboDynamics Lab aims at characterizing the adhesive properties of soft materials when exposed to dynamic excitation with the aim to rapidly control macroscopic adhesion.
The TriboDynamics Group uses numerical as well as experimental techniques to design optimal patterned interfaces for the best adhesive performance. The TriboDynamics Group uses numerical as well as experimental techniques to design optimal patterned interfaces for the best adhesive performance.
Fabrication is allowed by two-photon-polymerization technology, nowadays the 3D printing technology (Photonic Professional GT2, by Nanoscribe) which guarantees the highest resolution, down to less than 200 nanometer.
We focus then on the adhesive performance of the developed micropatterns when those are exposed to high frequency and low amplitude excitation. For this we are developing a custom test bench for dynamic adhesion experiments
The research activity is supported by the ERC Starting Grant project SURFACE (101039198), which received fundings for 1.5 M€ for 5 years (expected end date fall 2027).
The research group is constituted by PhD and post-doctoral researchers while the activities are coordinated by Prof. Antonio Papangelo, associate in mechanical design.
